Centrally on the island, along Kaminda Tras Di Montaña, you will find the Tras di Montaña route, which means 'behind the mountain'. This 8-kilometer tour takes you past historical and natural sights, including Bonaire's very first airport, a goat farm, and a botanical garden. There is also a place for a picnic along the way.

At the start of the route you will find Bonaire's original airport, which opened its doors in 1936. It consisted of nothing more than a simple airstrip with a modest shelter next to it. Further along the road several local trees have been highlighted. Through informative signs you can learn more about this flora, such as the Shimaruku or West Indian cherry, a fruit-bearing tree or shrub that mainly bears fruit after rain showers. This plant can remain bushy or grow to a considerable size. In addition to this natural beauty, the route also takes you past a goat farm, which is open to visitors on certain days. Be alert for goats roaming freely as you pass the farm.
